(UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 20th October, 2018) US National Security Adviser John Bolton is working hard to persuade President Donald Trump to withdraw the United States from the Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces (INF) Treaty with Russia, UK media reported on Friday.
Others within Trump's inner circle and US allies are opposing Bolton's effort, The Guardian said citing sources briefed on the initiative.
UK counterparts, the report added, were alarmed after US officials briefed them on Bolton's Proposal. UK officials see the INF as a key arms control pillar, according to the report.
The 1987 INF Treaty prohibits the development, deployment and testing of ground-launched ballistic or cruise missiles with ranges between 300 and 3,400 miles. The United States and Russia have repeatedly accused each other of violating the accord.
