MEXICO CITY (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 28th October, 2018) Two presidential rivals cast ballots on Sunday in the second round of elections in Brazil, local media reported.
Right-wing Jair Bolsonaro voted together with his wife at a polling station in Rio de Janiero amid tight security after he was stabbed at a campaign rally in September, O Globo said.
Fernando Haddad, his challenger from the leftist Workers' Party, reportedly cast his ballot at a polling place in a Sao Paulo school, the city he once ruled as mayor.
Brazil's incumbent Michel Temer was spotted voting at another polling station in Sao Paulo, where he told reporters that the "people of Brazil will remain brothers" whoever wins.
Bolsonaro was leading the polls ahead of the vote this week. A recent Datafolha survey suggested he would win the runoff with 56 percent of votes, trailed be Haddad with 44 percent.
