A brother of Paul Whelan, a US national recently arrested in Russia on charges of espionage, has arrived in Moscow to receive information on the details the case, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said Wednesday
MOSCOW (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 16th January, 2019) A brother of Paul Whelan, a US national recently arrested in Russia on charges of espionage, has arrived in Moscow to receive information on the details the case, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said Wednesday.
"Our relevant authorities have revealed the circumstances of Mr Whelan's arrest.
His brother is here, he has also been informed on the situation and the detention conditions. I think there are no complaints over these conditions," the minister said at a press conference.
Whelan was caught in the act in the hotel, the minister said.
Lavrov also ruled out speculations that Whelan's arrest was in any way related to possibility of his exchange for Russian national detained abroad.
