The man who recently stabbed a police officer in Brussels has been charged with terrorism-related attempted murder, a representative of the Brussels police told Sputnik on Tuesday.
Earlier in the day, a man wielding a knife attacked and injured a police officer.
Another police officer used his weapon against the attacker, wounding him. Both the assailant and the injured officer were hospitalized.
"He is charged with attempted murder in a terrorist context," the representative said, adding that the attacker did not have a criminal record.
Belgian Interior Minister Jan Jambon called the attack "a cowardly act."
