Buenos Aires Offers Russia's Rosatom To Join Uranium Mining Project In Argentina - CEO
BUENOS AIRES (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 01st December, 2018) Argentina has offered Russian state nuclear corporation Rosatom to join a uranium mining project in the South American country and share its technologies with Buenos Aires, Rosatom CEO Alexey Likhachev said.
"The Argentinian side has addressed us with an offer to localize our uranium mining technology here ... The colleagues ask us to share our technology and locate here all the necessary competencies [for uranium mining]. We are ready for such localization within the framework of our interests," Likhachev said.
The official added that Rosatom expected a number of Argentina-Russia deals on cooperation in nuclear area to be signed during Russian President Vladimir Putin's ongoing trip to the South American country for the G20 summit.
Likhachev also noted that it was important for Russia to bring nuclear energy cooperation with Argentina to a new level due to the country's competences and its influence on other Latin American states.
The G20 forum is being held on Friday and Saturday in Buenos Aires.
