Canada will provide Ukraine with assistance in training rural police officers as part of its support for the country's reforms of law enforcement bodies, Ukrainian Interior Minister Arsen Avakov said on Monday

KIEV (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 25th March, 2019) Canada will provide Ukraine with assistance in training rural police officers as part of its support for the country's reforms of law enforcement bodies, Ukrainian Interior Minister Arsen Avakov said on Monday.

"Canadian Ambassador to Ukraine Roman Waschuk [and I] agreed to start the next round of the Interior Ministry's reform - training rural police officers - with the support from Canadian experts as part of the International Technical Assistance [program]. We are doubling the number of instructors. I am grateful to our friends for the constructive cooperation," Avakov wrote on his Twitter page.

Ukraine has been reforming police since 2014 with foreign nations, such as Canada, assisting Kiev in this process.

Ottawa is also helping Kiev train Ukrainian National Guard officers.
