China-developed video games made 8.3 billion U.S. dollars in revenue from overseas markets in 2017, up 14.5 percent year-on-year
FUZHOU, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 10th Jan, 2018 ) :China-developed video games made 8.3 billion U.S. Dollars in revenue from overseas markets in 2017, up 14.5 percent year-on-year. Zhang Huaihai with the State Administration of Press, Publication, Radio, Film and Television gave the number at a summit on digital entertainment in Xiamen, Fujian Province, on Wednesday.
Last year, China's video game market brought developers over 200 billion Yuan (30.7 billion U.S. dollars) in revenue, up 23 percent year-on-year, Zhang said. "China's original video games have become competitive in the global market," said Wang Yi, vice president of NetEase, a domestic game heavyweight.
Wang said the company hopes video games can be part of cultural exchanges, citing the great popularity of one of its games, which was inspired by the Kunqu opera "The Peony Pavilion."
