Beijing has made a representation to the United States over Washington's decision to halt exemptions from sanctions on Iranian oil importers, the Chinese Foreign Ministry said Tuesday

BEIJING (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 23rd April, 2019) Beijing has made a representation to the United States over Washington's decision to halt exemptions from sanctions on Iranian oil importers, the Chinese Foreign Ministry said Tuesday.

The White House said Monday that it would no longer exempt third states from sanctions on Iranian oil deliveries after May 1 deadline.

"The US actions are leading to higher tensions in the middle East and volatility in the international energy market. We urge the United States to be responsible and play a constructive role rather than the opposite. China has already made a representation to the United States in this regard," Spokesman Geng Shuang said.
