China 'Misrepresenting' Nature Of US-China Talks - Trade Representative Lighthizer

WASHINGTON (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 04th June, 2019) China is misrepresenting the history of its trade negotiations with the United States in order to play a blame game with Washington, US Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer and the Treasury Department said in a joint statement.

"The United States is disappointed that the Chinese have chosen in the 'White Paper' issued [on Sunday] and recent public statements to pursue a blame game misrepresenting the nature and history of trade negotiations between the two countries," the statement said on Monday.

US President Donald Trump, the statement added, is committed to taking action to address the unfair trade practices that China has engaged in for decades.

Washington has increased tariffs on $200 billion worth of Chinese imports from 10 percent to 25 percent and US President Donald Trump also called for the launching of a process to increase duties on all remaining imports from China, which are estimated to be worth around $300 billion.
