Beijing and Moscow need to improve the integration of their cross-border infrastructure in order to expand open market and economic cooperation, Chinese leader Xi Jinping said on Wednesday
VLADIVOSTOK (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 12th September, 2018) Beijing and Moscow need to improve the integration of their cross-border infrastructure in order to expand open market and economic cooperation, Chinese leader Xi Jinping said on Wednesday.
"We need to prioritize the improving of connectivity of cross-border infrastructure, promoting free trade and investment, optimizing resources allocation and industry structure. We need to work together to build an open regional economy. We need to work hard to build the Northeast Economic Zone," Xi said at a plenary session of the Eastern Economic Forum (EEF) in Russia's Vladivostok.
Neighboring countries have already achieved sufficient results on economic cooperation through a number of initiatives, the Chinese leader noted.
"China and Russia are actively coordinating their efforts between the Belt and Road Initiative and the Eurasian Economic Union. We have made important initial results. Based on this foundation, China is willing to align with Russia's development strategy and improve policy communications and coordination. Form a united force and take control of the general direction of the partnership," Xi added.
The fourth EEF started on Tuesday and will last through Thursday on the island of Russky in the Russian city of Vladivostok. Rossiya Segodnya is the general information partner of the forum.
