BEIJING (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 21st February, 2019) China regards the positive appraisal of Beijing-Moscow relations that was given by Russian President Vladimir Putin during his recent address to parliament quite highly, the Chinese Foreign Ministry said on Thursday.

In his address to the Russian Federal Assembly on Wednesday, Putin said that mutually beneficial relations between Moscow and Beijing served as a stabilizing factor in global affairs and positively affected Eurasian security.

"In recent years, thanks to the personal role of Chairman Xi Jinping and President Putin, Russian-Chinese relations [which are at the level of] a comprehensive strategic partnership have achieved great success.

This brought productive cooperation results for the two sides, and also became a significant positive force for maintaining global strategic stability," the ministry's spokesman Geng Shuang said at a briefing.

This year, China and Russia celebrate the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties, which continue to burgeon, the spokesman noted.

Trade between the two countries reached $100 billion in 2018, while cooperation in all sectors continued to improve, according to the Chinese Foreign Ministry.
