Chinese President's Special Envoy Meets Asiad Sporting Delegation

JAKARTA, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 19th Aug, 2018 ) :Chinese President Xi Jinping's special envoy Sun Chunlan met with the Chinese delegation to the 18th Asian Games in Jakarta on Sunday.
Sun, Chinese Vice Premier, encouraged Chinese athletes to put on good performances during the Games and try their best to bring glory to the country.
Sun noted the Asian Games are the biggest multi-sports event in Asia and that these games will serve as a great opportunity to hone the Chinese athletes for the Tokyo Summer Olympics and Beijing Winter Olympics.
China sent a 845-athlete squad to the Asian Games, which opened amid a grand ceremony on Saturday night.
Sun quoted President Xi as saying that sports can play a pivotal part in promoting national development, boosting Chinese people's morale and staging a great national image.
After attending the opening ceremony on Saturday, Sun watched men's changquan event which was won by Chinese wushu star Sun Peiyuan on Sunday. The gold was also the games' first gold.
The 18th Asian Games, attracting more than 10,000 athletes from around Asia, will run through Sept. 2.
Hangzhou, the capital city of east China's Zhejiang Province, will host the 19th Asian Games in 2022.
