"It is necessary to bring together all the wisdom and strength of our law enforcement agencies to focus on preventing and withstanding 'color revolutions,' as well as protecting the country's political security," Zhao said in a statement published by the ministry.
The minister also stressed the need to continue strengthening mechanisms for maintaining political stability and security in China and make the task of preventing any political risks a priority.
The term "color revolutions" refers to a series of changes caused by anti-government protests in several countries, including post-Soviet states. These include the 2003 Rose Revolution in Georgia, the Orange Revolution in Ukraine in 2004 and the Tulip Revolution in Kyrgyzstan in 2005.
