MOSCOW (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 14th December, 2018) The Christmas market in Strasbourg, which was closed after the recent deadly attack, will reopen on Friday, local media reported, citing French Interior Minister Christophe Castaner.
"[The market will reopen] in order not to yield to fear, in order to show that Strasbourg and France are stronger than those attacking them," Castaner said as quoted by Le Figaro newspaper.
The outlet added that security measures would be tightened at the site with the number of entrance points reduced and working hours changed.
On Tuesday, an attacker opened fire at the Christmas market leaving two people killed, one person brain-dead and 12 other people injured. The gunman was identified by police as a local resident, Cherif Chekatt, 29, who had been known to the law enforcement for previous offenses.
Late on Thursday, the police located the suspected shooter and killed him after he engaged with the law enforcement.
The Islamic State terror group (IS, banned in Russia) reportedly claimed the responsibility for the attack.
