CIS Observers Recorded No Gross Violations at Armenian General Elections - Head of Mission

The observers mission from the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) did not find violations that could influence the results of the Armenian parliamentary elections, the head of mission said Monday.

YEREVAN (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 10th December, 2018) The observers mission from the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) did not find violations that could influence the results of the Armenian parliamentary elections, the head of mission said Monday.

On Sunday, snap parliamentary elections were held in Armenia. Acting Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan's My Step Alliance secured 67.24 percent, while the ruling coalition failed to pass the five percent threshold necessary to get parliamentary mandates, the preliminary data showed.

"Voting was orderly and met the requirements of the code. Technical equipment worked smoothly, although there were some minor nuances. In their reports, the observers noted some violations that, according to the mission, could not affect the outcome of the vote," Victor Guminsky told a briefing.

The elections were open, transparent and held in accordance with the Armenian constitution and electoral law, the head of mission added.
