Clashes between the Venezuelan security forces and indigenous people living in the southeastern state of Bolivar resulted in two people killed on Friday, while 22 others have been injured, local media reported
The Venezuelan servicemen arrived in the village of San Francisco de Yuruani, located close to the border with Brazil, and opened fire at indigenous people who gathered outside. The local population responded by capturing three soldiers, according to the Nacional media outlet.
Venezuela's President Nicolas Maduro announced on Thursday the complete closure of the land border with Brazil prior to the start of the delivery of humanitarian aid, scheduled for February 23. Maduro says the aid deliveries are a ploy to topple his government.
