Sydney, Nov 4 (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 4th Nov, 2018 ) :A classy Sydney FC moved top of the table with a rout of Melbourne City in weekend A-League action that saw Usain Bolt's former club slump to a 3-0 defeat.
Two goals from ex-Bolton Wanderers striker Adam Le Fondre helped Sydney to a decisive 3-0 away win, ringing alarm bells for the Melbourne club.
"Perfect they were," said Sydney coach Steve Corica. "I think maybe they (City) had one shot on target, other than that they didn't have anything else.
"It was a fantastic job defensively, led from the front with Alex Brosque and Le Fondre, they did a sensational job." The victory put them top of the table with seven points from three games, alongside Perth Glory who overcame a nervy finish to earn a tough 2-1 win over Brisbane Roar.
Just days after sprint king Bolt parted ways with the Central Coast Mariners when contract negotiations broke down, the club leaked three goals at home as they slumped to Adelaide United.
The Mariners front line barely troubled rampant Adelaide with Craig Goodwin, back in Australia after a stint with Dutch club Sparta Rotterdam, getting a brace in front of the watching Socceroos manager Graham Arnold.
It moved them up to third and pushed the Mariners down to second last in the 10-team domestic competition, with just two points from their opening three games.
In other matches, Keisuke Honda's Melbourne Victory beat bottom-of-the-table Newcastle Jets 1-0 while Western Sydney Wanderers put three past Wellington Phoenix.
