MEXICO CITY (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 01st June, 2019) Colombian Foreign Minister Carlos Holmes Trujillo will begin his five-day visit to Russia on Monday for holding talks with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and attending the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF), the Colombian Foreign Ministry has said.
Trujillo's visit will start in Moscow, where he plans to lay flowers to the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and hold the talks with Lavrov. The Colombian diplomat is also expected to open a business forum dedicated to investment in Colombia.
On Tuesday, Trujillo will visit the Skolkovo innovation center in the Moscow region to look for partners for a number of projects in Colombia.
The next day, the diplomat is planned to attend a meeting of an intergovernmental commission, while on Thursday, he will give a speech at an event at the Russian academy of Sciences' Institute of Latin America Studies.
Both events will be held in Moscow.
On Friday, Trujillo will visit Russia's second-largest city of St. Petersburg for attending the SPIEF. The diplomat is scheduled to participate in a panel discussion on cooperation between Latin America and the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU).
The crisis in Venezuela is currently a cornerstone in the Russia-Colombia relations, since Bogota has been supporting Venezuelan opposition leader Juan Guaido and opposing President Nicolas Maduro. Russia, in its turn, considers Maduro to be Venezuela's only legitimate president.
