MANCHESTER, United Kingdom, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 23th july, 2016) - England captain Alastair Cook declared his side's first innings on 589 for eight after tea on the second day of the second Test against Pakistan at Old Trafford on Saturday. Joe Root top-scored with a Test-best 254, with opener Cook making 105 as extended his own record for most Test centuries by an England batsman to 29.
The innings ended when Jonny Bairstow holed out for 58.
Wahab Riaz took three for 106 in 26.2 overs. The left-arm quick was one of three Pakistan bowlers who conceded more than a hundred runs each. Leg-spinner Yasir Shah, who took a match-winning 10 for 141 as Pakistan went 1-0 up in the four-match series with a 75-run win at Lord's last week, finished the innings with figures of one for 213 in 54 overs.
