Cyril Ramaphosa Sworn In As South Africa President At Inauguration Ceremony

MOSCOW (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 25th May, 2019) Cyril Ramaphosa was officially sworn in as the president of the Republic of South Africa at the inauguration ceremony in the capital of Pretoria on Saturday.
"I, Matamela Cyril Ramaphosa, swear that I will be faithful to the Republic of South Africa and will obey, observe, uphold and maintain the Constitution and all other law of the Republic and devote myself to the well-being of the Republic and all of its people. So help me God," the president said, according to his statement released on Twitter.
The ceremony took place at Loftus Versfeld stadium which gathered over 30,000 people.
"I am humbled by the trust you have bestowed upon me, aware of the challenges our country faces, but also alive to the fact that our people are filled with hope for a better tomorrow," he addressed the audience, according to the remarks published on his official website.
Ramaphosa is the fifth post-apartheid leader of South Africa. He became president after the resignation of Jacob Zuma in February 2018.
