ABU DHABI, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 15th Nov, 2018 ) :The National Health Insurance Company, Daman, has announced the introduction of a Cultural Exchange initiative to promote tolerance, understanding and appreciation of various global cultures among its employees.

Taking the form of a centrally managed group of clubs and events, the landmark initiative was unveiled on 9th November, as part of the company's in-house activities to commemorate the National Festival of Tolerance taking place across the UAE. It concludes on 16th November, 2018.

Daman has 1,500 employees, representing nearly 60 different nationalities and the newly launched Cultural Exchange will allow the company to foster the values of this week's national event.

As part of the initiative's announcement, the company invited volunteers to launch a total of 14 national and continental clubs that will host its own activities during a 12-month period. The first is a "UAE Day" which will take place alongside the National Day celebrations with events and talks focussing on the local culture's customs, traditions, cuisine and social life.

"We at Daman are very proud of the fact that our employees come from all corners of the globe. Initiatives that encourage appreciation of other cultures have always been part of Daman's ethos since we began operations over 10 years ago. The Cultural Exchange, however, is unique in its particular focus on cultural education and dialogue over a 12-month programme," said Dr Michael Bitzer, Daman's Chief Executive Officer.

"The National Festival of Tolerance, with its numerous events and activities, is exemplary of how the UAE has become a leading example of peaceful coexistence, tolerance and prosperity all over the world," Dr Bitzer added.

Daman also held a series of five cultural seminars this week at its Abu Dhabi headquarters which houses a thousand employees. The schedule featured a wide variety of topics from examining different cultural relationships from around the world to a seminar exploring South Africa's journey towards tolerance and Nelson Mandela's pivotal role in its history.
