Date for Russia-Japan Peace Treaty Talks to Be Set Via Diplomatic Channels - Ambassador

Date and venue of the next round of Russia-Japan talks on the peace treaty in the light of Russian President Vladimir Putin's proposals will be set through diplomatic channels, Russian Ambassador to Japan Mikhail Galuzin told Sputnik.

VLADIVOSTOK (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 12th September, 2018) Date and venue of the next round of Russia-Japan talks on the peace treaty in the light of Russian President Vladimir Putin's proposals will be set through diplomatic channels, Russian Ambassador to Japan Mikhail Galuzin told Sputnik.

During the plenary session of the Eastern Economic Forum (EEF) in Vladivostok earlier in the day, Putin proposed to sign a peace treaty between Russia and Japan until the end of the year without any preconditions. Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Igor Morgulov said that the work on the treaty would continue including in the context of the president's proposals.

"As the deputy minister said, the work on the peace treaty would continue including in the light of the proposals of President Putin. In accordance to the diplomatic practice, date and venue of the next round of negotiations will be set via diplomatic channels," Galuzin said.
