The death toll in the car bomb explosion in Afghanistan's southern city of Qalat-e Gilzay rose to 39 with at least 185 people injured, a local source told Sputnik on Friday

KABUL (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 20th September, 2019) The death toll in the car bomb explosion in Afghanistan's southern city of Qalat-e Gilzay rose to 39 with at least 185 people injured, a local source told Sputnik on Friday.

On Thursday, a car bomb explosion severely damaged the Zabul Civil Hospital.

All of the victims were either hospital patients or doctors. The other injured people were transferred to the city of Kandahar as private local hospitals did not have the capacity to treat them.

The Taliban movement has claimed responsibility for the attack, suggesting that there were many casualties among the National Directorate of Security personnel as the explosion took place at the gate of the agency's building.
