Death Toll In Gaja Cyclone In South India Rises To 33 - Reports

MOSCOW (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 18th November, 2018) The number of people, who died as a result of the Gaja cyclone in the southern Indian state of Tamil Nadu, has increased up to 33, local media reported.
Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu Edappadi Palaniswami said on Saturday that the list of the victims included 20 men, 11 women and two children, the Times Now media outlet reported.
According to the official, some 177,500 people currently reside at 351 relief camps in the areas affected by the cyclone.
Palaniswami added that the natural disaster had broken 30,000 electricity poles and damaged 105 power substations. The authorities have sent about 10,000 personnel to repair the damaged facilities.
The Gaja cyclone hit Tamil Nadu on late Thursday. The cities of Nagapattinam, Thiruvarur and Thanjavur have suffered most from the natural disaster.�
