Late on Tuesday, protests against President Nicolas Maduro began in various cities of Venezuela. Marches of opponents of the authorities and supporters of the incumbent president are also planned for Wednesday.

According to the Commercio media outlet, a 16-year-old boy was shot dead in Caracas, while three more people were killed during looting in the southern state of Bolivar.

On Monday, a military revolt took place in one of the districts of Caracas, which was suppressed by the national security forces. The incident occurred several days after Nicolas Maduro was sworn in as Venezuelan president for the second time.

Venezuela has been facing a political crisis for months triggered by a difficult economic situation caused by the fall of oil prices.
