Egyptian President To Open New Possibilities For Africa While Heading African Union - AU

ADDIS ABABA (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 10th February, 2019) President of Egypt Abdel Fattah Sisi will uncover new opportunities for the African region as the head of the African Union (AU), Moussa Faki Mahamat, the chair of the AU Commission, said on Sunday.

"Abdel Fattah El Sisi, the president of the Arab Republic of Egypt, I have the pleasure and honor to seize this opportunity to welcome you as the incoming chairman. I am convinced that your chairmanship will carry forward the AU and give a new impetus, given your qualities and the new perspectives you will open for Africa," Faki said at the opening ceremony of the African Union 32nd summit.

At the ongoing summit, Egypt is taking over AU chairmanship from Rwanda.
