Erdogan To Discuss Syria With Steinmeier, Merkel During Visit To Germany

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan will discuss with his German counterpart Frank-Walter Steinmeier and Chancellor Angela Merkel the situation in Syria, as well as counterterrorism efforts and illegal migration during his upcoming visit, Erdogan's press service said on Tuesday.

ANKARA (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 25th September, 2018) Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan will discuss with his German counterpart Frank-Walter Steinmeier and Chancellor Angela Merkel the situation in Syria, as well as counterterrorism efforts and illegal migration during his upcoming visit, Erdogan's press service said on Tuesday.

Erdogan will arrive in Germany at Steinmeier's invitation on Thursday for a three-day visit.

"During the talks, the parties will discuss cooperation in trade, defense, security, cultural and social sectors, as well as issues related to the Turkish community living in Germany.

Also, problems related to the situation in Syria, fight against terrorism and illegal migration are on the agenda," the press service said in a statement.

The visit will be Erdogan's first official trip to Germany over the past seven years. Apart from holding talks with Steinmeier and Merkel, the Turkish president is also expected to meet with representatives of the civil society and German-Turkish businesses.
