BRUSSELS (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 21st January, 2019) EU foreign policy chief Federica Mogherini said on Monday that she would not be able to attend the middle East ministerial meeting organized by the United States in Poland.
Earlier in January, US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said in an interview with Fox news that the United States would hold an international meeting on stability in the Middle East on February 13-14 in Poland. According to Pompeo, representatives of Asia, Africa, the Western Hemisphere, Europe and the Middle East are invited to attend the meeting.
"I guess I am traveling to the African Union summit during these days .
.. that is going to be held in Addis Ababa that was planned obviously long ago ... I am afraid I am not in Brussels or in Europe these days," Mogherini told reporters in Brussels.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said last week that Moscow had received an invitation to take part in the event, however, expressed doubts that it will help solve regional problems.
Czech Foreign Minister Jacek Czaputowicz told the Rzeczpospolita newspaper that Russia had refused to participate in the Warsaw meeting and also expressed doubts that the meeting will lead to a breakthrough in regional affairs.
