European Commission's Chief Says Supports UN's Multilateral System

European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker expressed on Monday his support for the United Nations' multilateral system and the reforms proposed by UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres.
UNITED NATIONS (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 24th September, 2018) European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker expressed on Monday his support for the United Nations' multilateral system and the reforms proposed by UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres.
"We are saying that we are supporting UN system ... because the United Nations are paving the way to a better future for humanity, the United Nations are the corner stone of multilateralism and European Union will always be the partner of the United Nations and of Antonio Guterres," Juncker told reporters at a joint briefing with the UN chief.
Juncker also noted that the multilateral approach was still alive and it should be preserved.
"We don't like the unilateral approach some of our members of the United Nations are promoting, this is the one way, we do think multilateralism has to have a chance," the commission's chief added.
Juncker also mentioned that he was supporting reforms and initiatives proposed by Guterres.
Guterres has repeatedly proposed to reform the United Nations, including to reorganize the management paradigm and restructure the organization's peace and security pillars.
