European Council President Says Discussed Next Steps On Brexit With May

President of the European Council Donald Tusk said Friday he had discussed further steps on Brexit with UK Prime Minister Theresa May, who is expected to present an alternative Brexit plan to her parliament next week, after it rejected the EU-approved withdrawal agreement
"Discussed with PM [Theresa May] the next steps on the UK side," Tusk said on Twitter.
Following a defeat by 230 votes on Tuesday, May has been holding cross-party talks in an attempt to put together a new solution. Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn has refused to join the negotiations until May rules out a no-deal Brexit.
The UK prime minister has spoken with Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte and German Chancellor Angela Merkel as well.
The Brexit impasse occurred dangerously close to the Brexit deadline, March 29, when the United Kingdom is expected to leave the bloc.
