Ex-US Navy Captain Pleads Guilty in Sweeping Corruption Probe - Justice Department

WASHINGTON (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 14th November, 2018) Retired US Navy Captain Jeffrey Breslau pleaded guilty to criminal conflict of interest charges amid an expansive corruption and fraud investigation, the US Department of Justice said in a press release.

"A retired US Navy captain pleaded guilty to criminal conflict of interest charges [in an] investigation involving foreign defense contractor Leonard Glenn Francis and his Singapore-based ship husbanding company, Glenn Defense Marine Asia (GDMA)," the release said on Tuesday.

The Justice Department noted that Breslau, a 52-year-old from the state of Georgia, was charged in September.

From 2009 to 2012, Breslau was a US Navy captain assigned as public affairs director for the US Pacific Fleet in Hawaii.

Breslau admitted that from 2012 to 2013 he provided Francis with public relations consulting services, including providing advice on how to respond to issues and controversies related to Francis's ship husbanding business with the US Navy, according to the release.
