Fijian Ruling Party FijiFirst Wins Parliamentary Elections With Over 50% Of Votes -Reports

MOSCOW (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 18th November, 2018) The FijiFirst center-right party, headed by Fijian Prime Minister Frank Bainimarama, has secured victory at the parliamentary elections, winning 50.02 percent of the votes, local media reported on Sunday.
FijiFirst, which has been ruling the country since 2014, has secured 27 out of 51 seats in the country's parliament, and will form the new government, the Fijivillage media outlet reported.
The opposition Social Democratic Liberal Party comes second, having secured 39.85 percent of the votes and 21 parliamentary seats.
The parliamentary elections in Fiji were held on Wednesday, with the total number of valid votes amounting to 454,335.
