Finnish Delegation To Attend St. Petersburg International Economic Forum - Ambassador

YEKATERINBURG (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 25th March, 2019) The delegation of Finland will take part in the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF) that will be held on June 6-8, Finnish Ambassador to Russia Mikko Hautala told Sputnik on Monday.

"It will. No doubt. I know that for sure," the ambassador said, answering a question as to whether the Finnish delegation was planning to attend the forum.

The SPIEF is a major global platform for communication between business representatives from all over the world. During this annual conference, the participants discuss essential economic issues and try to find proper solutions to existing problems.

The forum has been held since 1997 and it has been held under the patronage and with the participation of the Russian president since 2006.

Last year, up to 17,000 guests from 143 countries attended the forum.

Finnish presidents are among the most frequent visitors of the SPIEF. They have attended it for four times already: Tarja Halonen in 2006, 2009 and 2011, and Sauli Niinisto in 2012.
