WASHINGTON (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 29th September, 2018) The first festival of the Russian theaters of America kicked off with a special ball in Washington.
The best talent from Russian theaters in Washington, Philadelphia, New York, Baltimore, Houston and other cities came to the US capital to showcase their skills at the festival, entitled "Your Turn," which kicked off at the Russian Cultural Center on Friday.
"Our goal is to introduce different theaters to each other, help them to share practices and help in organizing road tours," festival steering committee member Galina Verbitskaya told Sputnik.
Besides theatrical performances the festival includes a number of master classes conducted by directors, actors and experts who will share their experience and discuss a full spectrum of topics related to theater life in America.
Experts will also discuss ways to promote theater activities among the Russian diaspora in the United States.
Theaters that do not perform at Washington's stage during the current event plan to return next fall.
The festival was organized by the American Association of Russian Language, Culture and education, American Theaters and Theatergoers Union and several other theater companies.
