SYDNEY, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 15th Nov, 2018 ) :An Australian man is lucky to be alive after a 4-meter tiger shark attacked his kayak, knocking him into the water and sinking its teeth into the tiny craft.
The man, who is in his 30s, was fishing on the Queensland's Sunshine Coast on Thursday morning when the deadly predator attacked him, locking its jaws onto one end of his boat.
Fortunately he was able to right his craft and scramble back on board before using a radio to call for help.
"He was having a paddle out to sea, and fishing, and unfortunately out of the blue a shark has just attacked his kayak and latched onto it, throwing him out," rescuer, Jacob Thomson, from Surf Life Saving Queensland said.
"The shark still had its jaw on his kayak, which was upside down, but he's managed to flip it and at some point the shark has let go." According to authorities, when they arrived with jet skis to rescue the man, his vessel was very close to sinking, meaning that if he had not been able to radio for help, he may have ended up back in the water with the shark.
"It's lucky he had that radio with him, otherwise I think we'd be talking about something different this morning," Thomson said.
The man was checked by paramedics when he arrived back on the shore and was said to be understandably shaken but otherwise unharmed.
