At least 4 Taliban militants were killed in separate operations carried out by the Afghan National Defense and Security Forces in southern Kandahar province, local media reported on Saturday
"During clearance operations in Khakrez district, the 205th Corps killed 4 Taliban fighters, wounded 6 and destroyed 6 IEDs [improvised explosive devices]," the sources said, as cited by the Khaama Press news Agency.
Taliban fighters have a relatively huge presence in the embattled Kandahar province, where they often attack police, special forces and civilians.
Conflict-struck Afghanistan, which has been in turmoil for decades, is split by heavy fighting between government troops and Taliban militants, as well as groups affiliated with al-Qaeda (terrorist group banned in Russia) and other insurgents.
