Freight Bridge Connecting Russia's Blagoveshchensk With China's Heihe Opens - Authorities

The freight pontoon bridge across the Amur River connecting the Russian city of Blagoveshchensk and China's Heihe has been opened, Russian officials said on Friday.

BLAGOVESHCHENSK (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 21st December, 2018) The freight pontoon bridge across the Amur River connecting the Russian city of Blagoveshchensk and China's Heihe has been opened, Russian officials said on Friday.

"Yesterday, the regional inter-agency commission on monitoring the status of floating [pontoon] bridges has inspected the Russian portion of the cargo pontoon bridge and authorized its use," the authorities of the Russian Amur Region said in a statement.

The cargo pontoon bridge prolongs the freight traffic between the two border cities several months beyond the initial navigation period.

Last year, the bridge was operational from December 12 to April 11, 2018.
