Gates Cooperating, Mueller Not Yet Ready For Sentencing Phase - Court Document

WASHINGTON (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 15th November, 2018) Special Counsel Robert Mueller's office, along with attorneys for former Trump campaign adviser Rick Gates said in a court document that Gates is cooperating, and a delay is requested before sentencing takes place.

"[D]efendant Gates continues to cooperate with respect to several ongoing investigations, and accordingly the parties do not believe it is appropriate to commence the sentencing process at this time," a Joint Status Report filed on Wednesday said.

The document said Mueller's office and Gates' attorneys will provide the court with another status report within 60 days.

Gates pleaded guilty to charges of conspiracy and making false statements in connection with Mueller's investigation into Russia, the 2016 election and possible collusion between Moscow and the Trump campaign.

Russia has repeatedly denied interfering in the US election, calling the allegations "absurd," and both Moscow and US President Donald Trump have dismissed accusations of collusion.
