TBILISI (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 15th March, 2019) Georgian Foreign Minister David Zalkaliani described the country's accession to NATO as one Tbilisi's main foreign policy goals ahead of the upcoming NATO-Georgia Exercise 2019, which will kick off next week.
"Our goal is NATO membership, which is also one of the most important political lines.
Georgia is successfully fulfilling all of its obligations to the alliance, and, in 2008, at the Bucharest summit, it was said and confirmed multiple times that Georgia would become a member of NATO," Zalkaliani said Thursday.
The minister added NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg was expected to visit Georgia soon.
The NATO-Georgia Exercise 2019 will take place at the NATO-Georgia Joint Training and Evaluation Center, near Tbilisi, on March 18-29.
