BERLIN (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 21st January, 2019) The German government has no legal reason to interfere with the Nord Stream 2 pipeline project to supply Europe with Russian natural gas, Economic Affairs Minister Peter Altmaier has said.
"Nord Stream 2 is the wrong whipping boy.
.. The construction has gone far, kilometers of pipes have been laid under the [Baltic] sea... The Federal government will not intervene in this process because there is no legal basis for this," he told the Handelsblatt newspaper in an interview out Sunday.
