Germany's Verdi trade union has called on ground handling staff at the airports of Duesseldorf and Hanover to hold a warning strike on Thursday, according to a press release released on the union's website on Wednesday
In January, Verdi and the country's Federal Association of Aviation Security Companies (BDLS) signed a long-sought agreement to increase wages for around 23,000 German airport security personnel. Meanwhile, the talks between the ground handling staff and their employers have been stalled.
The strikes are set to take place in the morning, when at least 55 flights are scheduled in the two airports.
The union has been demanding improving working conditions and wage increases for ground handling services personnel, who work day and night. Negotiations with employers on a monthly pay increases for 1,000 ground staff have not yielded any results yet.
