MOSCOW (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 19th December, 2018) The recent incident with GPS glitches during NATO drills was quickly resolved thanks to the willingness of Finland to engage in dialogue, Alexander Venediktov, an aide to the Russian Security Council secretary, told Sputnik.
The Trident Juncture exercises held on October 25 - November 7 in several northern European countries including Norway and Finland were overshadowed by several instances in which pilots reported losing GPS signals. Helsinki said that Russia could be potentially responsible for the jamming the signal.
Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Grushko said shortly after that Moscow would respond to possible questions related to the matter via diplomatic channels.
"The incident with the failure of the GPS systems can and should be discussed calmly, in a businesslike manner, avoiding political engagement and hysteria. I cannot fail to note the position of our Finnish partners, who preferred to exchange opinions on what had happened in the format of a dialogue. As a result, the incident was over in a matter of days," the official said in an interview.
