Gunmen Attack 5 Saloons In Mexico's Monterrey Leaving 4 People Killed, 5 Injured - Reports

MEXICO CITY (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 19th August, 2018) Four people were killed and five more injured as a result of gunmen's attacks on five saloons in the northern Mexican city of Monterrey, local media reported.
The incident occurred on late Saturday when unknown gunmen opened fire at people in five saloons, the Excelsior media outlet reported.
Within recent several years Mexico faced a wave of violence caused by clashes between drug cartels struggling for control over the transit of cocaine to the United States. Since the beginning of 2018, almost 16,000 people have been killed in Mexico, which is 18 percent more than in the same period of 2017.
According to official statistics, more than 31,000 people were murdered in Mexico last year.
