Mousa Mohammed Abu Marzook, the deputy chief of the Political Bureau of the Hamas Islamist movement and the head of the movement's delegation to the ongoing talks in Moscow, praised in his comments to Sputnik Russia's support for the intra-Palestinian dialogue, saying that the Palestinians trusted the country's approach toward the matter
Moscow, is currently hosting the third intra-Palestinian meeting, which began earlier on Monday and will last through Wednesday. Ahead of the meeting, the Russian Foreign Ministry said that it expected 10 Palestinian movements to be represented at the talks.
"Most of the Palestinian delegations here respect Russian diplomats, they trust the Russian policy toward the Palestinian cause .
.. We trust Moscow, leaders here, especially Foreign Minister [Sergey Lavrov] and [Deputy Foreign Minister] Mikhail Bogdanov. They are very positive with our cause," Abu Marzook said.
He added that all the intra-Palestinian talks in Moscow had turned out to be fruitful.
"I attend all the meetings here in Moscow. The Palestinians always finish meetings [in Moscow] with good things, they accomplish what they want to do," Abu Marzook said.
In 2007, a deadly conflict between Fatah, then dominating party in Palestine, and the Hamas Islamist movement resulted in the split of the Palestinian Authority and Hamas taking over the Gaza Strip. The West Bank is still controlled by Fatah.
