Head Of Crimean Society Of Bulgarians Says OSCE Growing Into 'Anti-Russian Platform'
SIMFEROPOL (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 16th September, 2018) Ivan Abazher, the leader of the Crimean Republican Society of the Bulgarians, told Sputnik on Sunday that the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) was turning into an "anti-Russian platform."
Abazher made a speech, focused on inter-ethnic relations on the Crimean peninsula, at the OSCE's annual human rights and democratic conference in the Polish capital of Warsaw.
"Unfortunately, we see that the OSCE is turning into an anti-Russian platform, where anti-Russian rhetoric and declarations are encouraged. This is inadmissible. This trend should be changed. It's high time OSCE became a paragon of an unbiased and objective organization implementing the principles that had been introduced when it had been created," Abazher said.
He suggested inviting members of the international association Friends of Crimea to the OSCE's panel discussions.
"These are people from different countries who have already visited the Russian Crimea and who can communicate the truth on the real situation in the peninsula to the global community," Abazher added.
While the Crimean peninsula rejoined Russia in 2014, as the majority of its population voted in favor of the move at a referendum, Kiev, as well as a great number of western states, has not recognized the reunification and continues qualifying this as annexation although Moscow has repeatedly stressed that the referendum had been conducted in compliance with international law. This prompted a deterioration of Russia's relations with Ukraine and with the West.
