A heavy snow storm has moved in, canceling nearly 2,000 flights within, into or out of the United States over the weekend, a flight tracking firm said
FlightAware has estimated that a total of 1,931 flights that use US airports have been canceled on Saturday and Sunday as the storm continues to blanket the Midwest and Northeast with snow and ice.
Dozens more flights are expected to be grounded Monday. Additionally, the snow delayed 5,865 flights on Saturday.
Southwest Airlines said earlier that its plane en route from Las Vegas with 150 passengers and six crew on board slid onto a runway overrun area after landing safely in Omaha, Nebraska. The airport was shut for two hours.
