BRUSSELS (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 20th September, 2018) Some 400 people are taking part in a demonstration in Salzburg late on Wednesday, calling for effective measures of migrant protection, while the EU leaders' informal summit is taking place in the Austrian city, local police said.
"The demonstration near the old market is continuing, 300-400 people are taking part in it," the Salzburg police wrote on Twitter and noted that the situation is calm.
The ongoing summit in Austria is mainly devoted to the migration crisis and measures to tackle the issue.
Since 2015, Europe has been facing a migration crisis, with scores of refugees arriving from countries rife with conflict. Many of them are attempting to reach the continent via the Mediterranean Sea. The crisis sparked disputes between the European Union member states.
