Idlib, Refugees, Restoration Of Syria To Be Discussed At Astana Meeting - Kazakh Minister

The situation in the Syrian province of Idlib, the return of refugees, and restoration of Syria will be discussed at the meeting on Syria in Astana, to be held on November 28-29, Kazakh Foreign Minister Kairat Abdrakhmanov said Monday.

ASTANA (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 19th November, 2018) The situation in the Syrian province of Idlib, the return of refugees, and restoration of Syria will be discussed at the meeting on Syria in Astana, to be held on November 28-29, Kazakh Foreign Minister Kairat Abdrakhmanov said Monday.

"According to the information we received from the guarantor countries [Russia, Turkey and Iran], they intend to discuss at this meeting issues related to the situation in the province of Idlib," Abdrakhmanov said.

He said the sides also "intend to discuss issues related to the creation of conditions for the return of refugees and post-conflict restoration in Syria."

Abdrakhmanov said the team of outgoing UN Special Envoy for Syria Staffan de Mistura would preliminarily take part in the talks in Astana.

He said the United States would not attend the talks.
