---16-year-old Told Police That Her Father Had Been Sexually Assaulting Her For Long Chandigarh, (Pakistan Point News - 26th May, 2018) : A local court in India has awarded 20 years imprisonment to a man for raping his two minor girls, eight months after the two victims lodged a complaint with the Child Helpline.
Additional district and sessions judge Poonam Joshi on Friday also imposed a fine of 2.05 lakh INR on the 45-year-old accused. From total amount, 1 lakh INR will go to each sister, reported the Hindustan Times.
The accused was held guilty under Section 6 (aggravated penetrative sexual assault) of the POCSO Act by the court. The case surfaced last year in September when the elder daughter of the accused called up the helpline, accusing her father of sexual abuse.
Later, police registered a case under multiple sections of sexual harassment, rape and others.
The victim told the police that her father had been sexually assaulting her for long, forcing her to live with her uncle on the first floor of the same house.
But, her seven-year-old sister and four-year-old brother continued to live with their father on the ground floor. Their mother has passed away, Hindustan Times reported. Later, the seven-year-old girl informed her elder sister that she was also being sexually abused by the father.
The 16-year-old victim later approached a nearby doctor, who contacted the child helpline. Both minor victims then explained the whole incident before the counsellors. The girls also underwent the medical examination which confirmed rape. Later, the police arrested the father and initiated legal proceedings against him.
