Interpol Says Ready To Assist Sri Lankan Gov't In Investigation Into Deadly Terror Attacks

PARIS (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 21st April, 2019) Jurgen Stock, the secretary-general of the International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol), condemned Sunday's deadly explosions in Sri Lanka and said that the organization was ready to assist the Sri Lankan authorities in investigation into the attacks.
"INTERPOL strongly condemns the horrific attacks in #SriLanka and has offered its full support to the investigation being carried out by national authorities. Our thoughts and prayers are with the families and friends of the victims," Stock said in a statement published on Twitter.
According to the statement, specialized teams can be sent to the country to assist national law enforcement in the investigation.
Eight blasts took place in Sri Lanka on the Easter day, hitting several churches with Catholic worshipers and hotels in the country's capital of Colombo and other cities. According to media reports, the attacks claimed lives of at least 185 people, while almost 500 others were injured.
